Since the beginning of the "cryptocurrency and miners" the world of the gaming PCs has been affected, becoming the acquisition of a gpu into a nightmare for a lot of PC gamers. Companies like NVIDIA and AMD has been speaking about to find a solution for gaming enthusiasts to solve the problem about the high prices and demands of GPUs. Unfortunately until now all that we can do is pay like $1000 or even more if we want to buy a GTX-1080ti, but everybody knows that.... so my point is: If we have to overpay for a GPU, why don't they offer some kind of payment method like layaway or something similar to make it easier to get one???

Also just to add to this, it's not just miners causing this GPU price spike and shortage. New smart phones from Samsung and Apple as well as server demand increases have put a high demand against VRAM competing with mobile and server DRAM memory. This has shifted a bias towards mobile phone and server DRAM production capacity among Samsung, Hynix, and Micron, all who make both. Here's an informative 2016 article read on predicting that production bias towards DDR4: https://press.trendforce.com/press/20161110-2686.html

Both AMD and Nvidia GPU AIB partners have stated they can produce more video cards, but they are having to wait for memory to arrive from the manufacturers. Last I heard Micron only represents about 10% of the market for...
step 1. get a secured credit card

step 2. once you've built credit, apply for a normal credit card

step 3. once your credit limit reaches $1,000 - get the card

Of course if it's a private seller off of craigslist(or similar), you'll have to save up the money.

"layaway" - Paying full price for an item that is 6 months outdated when you pay it off and actually get it.

Pay the layaway to yourself.
Put the same weekly or monthly into an envelope.
When you have enough $$, go buy the best GPU available on that day. Not 6 months ago.

Maybe they can take this opportunity to expand operations and gain more OEM memory market share from Samsung and Hynix.

But you asked for a layway program. There's nothing about being 17 that makes it possible for you to give retailer X dollars a month but not possible for you to put X dollars a month in an envelope.

17 eh?...

that means... "mommy... i love you very very much! and there's something you can do mommy to show me just how much you love me!"

don't forget the bear hug and make her breakfast in bed. it would also help to draw her a picture of the video card and put a heart and smiley face on it.

^^LOL! Or do household chores and get paid for it both at home and around your town. When I was 15 before I was even driving, I was doing yard work and cleaning pools for neighbors as I did so in my parent's home.

When I got my driver's license, I expanded to driving around town for others who were friends of said neighbors asking me to do yard work and pool maintenance for them. I earned more in one summer month than teens at the time working minimum wage jobs in fast food joints and in mall stores did during all three summer break months.

As a bonus, sometimes the pool eye candy was great too.:star:
