Gpu or cpu for streaming

So quite a while back I got a 1060-6gb upgrade from 750ti and started streaming it was all good with a i5 4670k but I would get lag spikes and other problems. Anyway that's not the point.. What I want to ask is that would it be worth to use 750ti to stream instead of my cpu, using the nvenc codec thingy, or would it just be a waste if time and electricity.
