My computer has recently been having issues with video output. Every now and then, the GPU will abruptly stop outputting video to the monitors, usually after either launching a video game or playing a video game for a while. I know for certain that the monitors are not the problem, nor their cables because this issue happens while using either monitor with multiple kinds of display cables. I tried downloading the latest NVIDIA driver, but it did not solve anything. Therefore, I am inclined to believe that the GPU driver requires a clean install and that it was corrupted at some point.
Unfortunately, to safely perform a clean GPU driver reinstall, one needs to update their BIOS. I wiped a flash drive, put the latest BIOS version on it as specified by the instructions, plugged it into an empty USB port... and then realized that the GPU fails every time I open the BIOS upon turning the computer on. This would not be an issue if my CPU had integrated graphics, but unfortunately it does not.
I was left with no other choice than to come here and ask:

- First of all, am I correct in my assumption that this is a driver problem? I am confident that it is but I could be wrong.
- If it is indeed a driver problem, should I try to do a clean install without updating the BIOS? I figure this is not a good idea, but I thought I would ask.
- If it is something else, how do I fix the problem?
- If I have to update the BIOS, how can I access it without video output failing?
