Question GPU overclock reset to default?

Long time lurker seeking first advice

On the face of it I have an Nvidia GTX1060/6 GPU in my system. I am unsure if it is genuine Nvidia or licensed to the name and manufactured by another company. I mention this as GPU-Z suggests Nvidia, but when I do the lookup function it returns a webpage from a company called Galax. If I use Speccy to check the GPU it shows manufacturer as Nvidia and subvendor as Nvidia (10DE)

I mention this as a friend suggested a light overclock on the GPU might be good and based on the Galax reference used Xtreme Tuner Plus to apply an auto overclock using the 1-Click OC option.

Thing is I'd ideally like to restore the GPU to its original settings and am unsure how to go about that before embarking on more overclocking tests.

There is an option on Xtreme Tuner Plus for "default" or would something like MSI Afterburner be suitable for this? I honestly do not know if a utility can know what type of card you have, and if it can just restore to factory automatically somehow.

Yes, Try using MSI AB to restore all the GPU settings to default. Can you post a GPU-Z screenshot ? Also, do a CLEAN re-install of the GPU drivers. Use the DDU tool, and do it in Safe Mode.

Even the Default option in Xtreme Tuner Plus should restore back the settings.

As it happens I got bold and tried using the util I used originally (Xtreme Tuner Plus) and hit the "default" button. My concern was that I was not advised to save current settings before trying the 1-Click OC option.

Here's where GPU-Z is at right now:

Whilst I'm new to this the GPU and default clock info seems to match, so I think that means I have managed to reset to default ok?

Reinstalling my driver was also on my mind, so I will look into the DDU tool, and I presume you mean when Win10 is in safe mode? I was thinking of merely using device manager to roll it back, reboot then let device manager find the latest driver once more - would that approach be less effective perhaps?

YUP, those specs look completely fine to me, and the GPU is also LEGIT as well. Also, the readings are also normal now, including the GPU and MEM clock speed values.

I don't think you might need to re-install the GPU drivers, but if you wish try doing it via DDU tool for best results. Don't do it via the DEVICE MANAGER.
