Question GPU performance after repasting

Hey! I have a question. I repasted my laptop (zephyrus m16) for the first time. However, I was dumb. I replaced the thermal putty on the parts around the cpu/gpu with thermal paste. I read into it and some people say it should be fine, some are VERY much against it. Anyways, since then, the thermal readings are miles better, however the GPU clock speed is stuck on 210MHz. Could it be because the paste is not thick enough/covering enough/sufficient enough to cool the VRams? Or if not, what could this be? Every other aspect of the laptop is very smooth and fast since, just the GPU clock speed (therefore gaming performance etc.) is very poor.

Thermal paste is used to cover gaps that are much less than 1mm difference between the cooling plate/cooling assembly and the CPU's die/IHS. Thermal pads and putty is used in places where thermal pastes can't be used in places where there are 1mm or more in gap to the cooling surface/block/plate/finstack.

If I were you, I'd revert back to the putty/pads in places where you initially saw them. Thermal paste should be on areas where you see the GPU and CPU die(s).
