That's an interesting idea, but there was that rumor about Nvidia buying back 300k GPUs from one of the board makers, a few months ago. The reason being that they did boost production because of crypto, but the demand dried up unexpectedly. So, in a way, you'd be further punishing them for trying to respond to crypto, which would send a message that they should not even do that much, if/when it happens again.

I guess the other consideration is that they're at record profitability. So, it's not as if they can't afford to take a hit, right now.

Anyway, the message that I choose to send, by not buying a Turing GPU, is that the launch prices are too darn high.

:D Heh, don't drool too much, I don't have anything newer than a GTX 980 or 7970, and many are from the same model or generation in order to test VRAM and CF/SLI scaling, eg. I have 2x 8800GT 512MB and 2x 8800GT 1GB, ditto 9800GT, 3870, 4870, GTX 460, GTX 580 and so on. Also some Quadro cards up to a Quadro 6000 and K5000.

[/quotemsg] I am a bit curious about the 2060. Don't think I'll go for a 2070 if they don't drop below $500. But if a 2060 comes close to a 1080 for my 1440p games, maybe that's the way to go.[/quotemsg] Yeah I'm thinking the 2060 might be pretty reasonable depending on how closely it compared to a 1080. It'll hopefully be a bit like a 1070/1070Ti's power draw, but 1080GTX performance w/slightly higher minimum frame rates and thus more well tuned for 1440p/4K than 1080p with a ultra high refresh rate that has less problems getting acceptable enough frame rates.

I wonder if the 10xx series will raise in price when the 20xx series arrives, doubt they will be as impressive of an upgrade than from the 9xx to 10xx.

I really want all cryptocurrency mining farms around the world to completely sink and vanish so that the inflated GPU Prices will completely subside. They are gobbling the available supplies of GPUs in order to bolster their income while those customers who are really in need of a new GPU are left with inflated prices or nothing.

Feels like they just went back to what they should have been to begin with: at 400, 500, and 600 for 70, 80, and 80Ti respectively.
