Should I go with the Gtx 480

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130552&cm_re=gtx_480-_-14-130-552-_-Product

or SLI the GTX 465s

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130555&cm_re=gtx_465-_-14-130-555-_-Product

Screen resolution 1920 X 1080

750 Watt PSU

GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R LGA 1366 Intel X58 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel motherboard.

I plan on putting a 1000 Watt PS in the near future if that helps.

Or other suggestions would be appreciated. I am willing to spend up to 600 dollars with out my girl friend killing me.

What games do you play at what settings or are you just trying to generally get the most bang for the buck?

Perphaps you should consider the GTX 460 sli vs. GTX 480 instead of the GTX 465

Since the 460 sli should provide exceptional performance at the resolution of your monitor, is the added cost of the 480 worth it? Perhaps it is for future use, but that depends on your expectations and preferences.

$600?
Simply crossfire two HD6950's. You'll get the absolute most performance for the money, and it'll run off of your 750W PSU (provided it isn't a crappy brand-name). This'll save you time/effort/$$$ in that you won't need to upgrade your PSU.

Sorry I for got to put that i have 2 monitors running at 1920 x 1080.

Lol I did not even look at the 460s.

Types of games i play BBC2, COD, Crysis.

Flight Sim X, I use both monitors for this. I also do not want to have to buy a new GPU in the next year or more. The 460s look good but the 465 SLI i think would be better then then 460 SLI.

But what would perform better? 460x2 SLI or a GTX 480 by itself, with 2 monitors?

If you are willing to spend up to $600 why not the get GTX580 the best single gpu card available? It should be good enough at your resolution(1920x1080) that you don't have to worry about upgrading again until DX12 is released.

That's a load of cobblers as screen size has nothing to do with it, it's resolution that matters and I've been running SLi rigs for several years on 19" and 22" screens without issues and sometimes seeing 100% scaling in some titles.

It is not nice to call THG staff stupid. In their "Best Cards for the Money" articles they often recommend 2 cards in SLI or CF over single cards.

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaming-graphics-radeon-hd-6870-radeon-hd-6850,2782.html

In that current article, their recommendations for the higher end cards are:

$370 - Tie - GTX 460 in SLI or HD 6850 CF
$450 - None but honorable mention to GTX 480
$490 - Tie - GTX 470 SLI or HD 6870 CF
$550 - None but honorable mention to HD 5970

So the only cards actually recommend for budgets of approximately $370 or more are SLI or CF options.

Do you not read others' reviews and recommendations on cards or just think you have all the wisdom and what others recommend is stupid?

When you say what others recommend is "stupidity" you only embarrass yourself and prove your own poor judgement.

Sorry mm, I thought everyone would understand I meant computer monitor, res 2560x1600. My bad!

if you want to SLI, go with gtx 460's. they are probably the best scaling sli option out there. avoid the rest of the 400 series as the 500 series is commonly known as what the GF104 chip(what powers the 465 and up) should have been. i suggest nvidia. you can go back and forth on which performs better and people will always say ati is more efficient, but you aren't droppin $600 on video performance to be eco friendly. nvidia makes up for it in their drivers. if you do go ati, don't go with the 6xxx series, they are a "green" version of the 5xxx series. the 6xxx always performs worse than its 5xxx counter part. personally, i'd say your options are 460SLI or the 500 series of your choice.

I would go for a single GTX570 for $350, leaving the option to SLI open for the future. It will be plenty for your resolution and pretty much any game. The 570/580 have quieter, improved cooling that make them a worthwhile purchase over the 400 series.

The great thing about SLI with the 570 is that they barely register any significant increase in heat or noise by adding a second card. They redesigned the casing on the card to deliver better airflow in a dual card setup. They also overclock with barely any heat or noise increase as well.

you could also wait just a little bit for the 560 which is going to be the successor and improvement over the most well liked nvidia card critically and best selling card they've had in a while, the 460. it will save you a bit of cash and run anything.

When is the GTX 560 coming out?
