Question GPU Won't Click Into Place or Screw Onto Bracket

Please keep it to 1 thread.
I have an NVIDIA 4080 GPU and an ASRock X670E Steel Legend motherboard. When trying to install the GPU, it is not clicking into the PCIE slot, and it is sitting too high above the bracket to be screwed in despite the fact that the GPU cannot go any lower, as it is sitting on the motherboard. I'm a first time PC builder.

The fingers go in between the motherboard and the case.

outside of your case, there are screws , remove them, that should popup some cover
insert gpu
insert cover back

now here is some random picture from internet, its totaly unrelated with your case

but on this picture you can see holes from inside, where your gpu slides, your case must have them too, but they are covered, you just need to uncover them
 
Thank you for the help. I have an ATX motherboard, and I mounted it using the #7 slots. I'll try to loosen the screws and move it to the right. If this doesn't work, I'll just have to have someone else take a look at it in person.
