Help! I'm building a PC for photoshop editing . There are so many choices out there for graphic card choices. Can someone make a recommendation to help me narrow down the choices. The hardware requirements on the photoshop page weren't helpful. Currently I've purchased/have the the following hardware:
cpu: Core i7 Alderlake i7-12700KF 100 3.6GHz LGA 1700
motherboard: MSI MAG B760 TOMAHAWK WIFI
memory: Team T-CREATE CLASSIC 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR5 6000 (PC5 48000) Desktop Memory Model CTCCD532G6000HC48DC01
power supply: enermax modu 82 emd625awt 625W
monitors: dual monitors: LG ULTRAWIDE(DVI)

Where are you located? What is your budget for a GPU purchase? Preferred site for purchase? In case you/we might run into clearance issues, it's a good idea to mention the make and model of your case.

Hang on a min!
power supply: enermax modu 82 emd625awt 625W
How old is the PSU?

If you look at the first page, that was printed back in 2008.

Nvidia is more or less the go-to in the photo/video editing space due to their CUDA programming and stuff like having dedicated encoders/decoders that don’t use the regular shader cores. I personally use my Nvidia GPU for both gaming and video editing. I can’t speak to AMD, although I’m sure they are fine.

For photo editing you probably don’t need something that crazy powerful or expensive. If you were to pick up a used RTX 3060 for example, it should probably be more than enough.

New GPUs are a little weird right now since Nvidia stopped making the 4000 series cards but it’s slow-rolling the new 5000 series cards and they won’t be available in normal quantities for a while.

Guilty. It still works. I've had zero problems with my PSU or my current system.

Thanks! I appreciate your help. Just as a comparison what are your thoughts on the Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060.

The 4060 would in some ways be even better (improved encoders, more power efficient, etc).
Please correct me if I'm wrong but the GeForce RTX 4060 refers to the chipset and not the manufacturer., correct? I couldn't find a NVidia GeForce RTX 4060 in PCPartsPicker but I was able to find numerous other manufacturers using the GeForce RTX 4060 chipset.

Nvidia makes the RTX 4060 (the printed circuit board with its accompanying processor die, memory, etc) , and then other manufacturers (Zotac, MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte, etc) install a cooler on it, tweak the boost clocks a bit, and then sell it under their own brand name.

Regardless of the reseller, the RTX 4060 is a Nvidia graphics card even if the word “Nvidia” isn’t in the name of the product title.

Basically, all RTX 4060’s are Nvidia GPUs, but only some of them are from MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte, Zotac, etc.

Personally would always go Mac for non studio level photo and video editing due to their laptop displays being amazing, and the machines being powerful enough whilst remaining easily portable. However for desktop general wisdom is nvidia due to wider support and less headaches than AMD.
