This is kind of a noob thing to ask but I don't know much about GPU drivers. So I want to get a gtx 1060 from Asus, not a strix but the white GeForce one. And I've been conflicted. Before I read somewhere that the rx 460 was a good card but get a different version as according to this guy, strix drivers are trash. So now whenever I look at gpus I'm always concerned, what drivers do these use? I've been using nvidia drivers on my current card but this is my first one. If anyone can quickly answer this I'd appreciate it

Solution
1) All consumer GPUs from Nvidia are GeForce
2) Nvidia designs GPUs, the chips are manufactured by a second party, and the cards assembled by a third party (typically)
3) Nvidia provides drivers for their GPUs. Basically in the form of a universal installer that covers all GeForce products.

No idea how they got the impression that the drivers for any particular GPU are bad. Every once in a while there are bugs or glitches, but they are usually taken care of in a release or two.

Nvidia typically releases drivers in conjunction with large game releases, and those games are as optimized as they are pretty much ever going to be at release.

AMD takes a longer road and improves their drivers over time, sometimes even adding features...

AMD takes a longer road and improves their drivers over time, sometimes even adding features through software. AMD cards tend to 'last longer' in that regard.

The GTX1060 compares favorably to the RX480. An RX460 is much slower and compares more closely to the GTX1050.
