Question Graphics card not displaying on diagnostics?

So I'm working on a budget build, not really super knowledgeable on computers but I can get my way around building them, but I just installed an MSI 980 graphics card into my computer and it has an AMD Ryzen 3 3200g processor with a gigabyte motherboard and a 500W EVGA PSU. And at first it didnt work so I disabled the graphics on the processor and it finally didn't have a black screen but now the graphics card is not showing in the diagnostics or display. Do I just need to connect to the internet and update it along with the drivers for it to start working? Or could it be something else?

did you install chipset driver?
latest bios on the motherboard?
install gpu driver?
