A GTX 750 Ti is a good choice for you. It doesnt require power connectors so no matter what computer you have it will work perfectly. The card will do a minimum of 50 fps with shaders.

The 750 Ti is priced around 120-150$ and my advice is get the cheaper model, the more premium priced ones only give 2-5% increased performance ( 1-4 fps )

Tbh i tried minecraft once with shaders ( not that type of person that plays it ) and even with a r9 270x i was still getting below 60 fps . It can be pretty demanding

You just repeated my comment and copied my link D:

I observed my grandson playing minecraft on a pc with a GT240 at 1080P not exactly a high end card.
It looked to me like it was moving as fast as anyone would like.
That would suggest that a very modest card like a $ 70 GT730 would do the job.

As a caveat, I think minecraft is more cpu bound and single threaded. This particular pc had a i5-3570K @4.0
If your cpu is not that capable, a cpu upgrade may be more important.

You are thinking of stock minecraft. Minecraft has a "shaders mod" that is very gpu demanding ( plus not very optimized )

Oh sorry I didn't see your comment.

Couple of years later we are at 1080 graphic cards and Minecraft with Shaders is still demanding. I think 10 years from now Minecraft with shaders will still be demanding.
