ive been looking at a 12gb upgrade from the 8gb virtual memory, I'm not one who spends 1k on a graphics card, I've always been a scavenger builder, since I thought myself with junk parts pack in 2003 to build, with a 1gb stick of memory ddr 1, 500hz , a BFG Geforce 4, with I think 250 or 500 MB of V ram, back then was a banger of a card, it lasted for along time, I ran a Pentium 4, 1.4 GHz single core , with a 300w Psu,

now I use
ASUS TUF B450-PLUS Gaming AMD AM4 (3rd/2nd/1st Gen Ryzen ATX with 36gb corsair vengeance memory, a RTX 2060 8gb GPU asus card, I have a bronze rated 600w corsair PSU, and have a older Socket AM4 Ryzen 5 8core 4500 I think,

I have in the closet, new I got last year,
AMD Ryzen 7 5700G 8-Core, 16-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor with Radeon Graphics
AMD
, / MSI PRO B550M-VC WiFi ProSeries Motherboard (AMD AM4, DDR4, PCIe 4.0, SATA 6Gb/s, M.2, USB 3.2 Gen 2, HDMI/DP, Wi-Fi, mATX)

with a pretty good case I didn't use that much, I have a full tower atm, that is my only gripe, I like full towers, but got a good deal on the mATX board.

With all my RAM, I have now, it will work in the new machine, which I actually only got about three months ago. Plus, I have extra Am4 board memory. Should I go from the 2600 RTX 8 GB card to the 3600 12 GB card? I don't struggle at all in any game I play, even on my current machine, but I don't know.
what I have now....

ASUS Dual GeForce RTX™ 3050 V2 OC Edition Graphics Card (PCIe 4.0, 8GB GDDR6, HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4a)

I have been looking at something like this

Asus Dual GeForce RTX 3060 V2 OC Edition GeForce RTX 3060 12GB 12 GB Video Card

Does anyone have any thoughts on whether this is a jump I need to make or if there is a similar but either cheaper or better card for the same price? I'm used to using Nvidia, Asus, and EVGA cards, sometimes flagship cards.

Wait for Arc B580
What do you think the price will be? Personally, I usually opt for AMD boards because I find they deliver better value than Intel. While I typically choose Nvidia graphics cards, I’m open to trying out Intel’s flagship graphics cards, like the Arc, especially if the price is right. After checking out the main site and seeing the FPS stats and the gaming potential, I have to say, I’m definitely intrigued.

Right now, I’m gearing up to build a new machine with some unused parts I have. I only need to grab an 8 GB memory stick to boost my total to 24 GB of Onboard memory at least. I’ll keep my current PC intact; I just added a 1TB SSD as a secondary drive via SATA, and I’m leaning toward getting another one or just using that one since it was only $29. The Pluto brand 1TB drive performs really well for the price, especially after scoring it on a great Amazon sale.

You've given me a lot to think about. I also took a good look at my old mATX case. While it’s in good condition, I prefer full tower cases, and I happen to have an extra glass full tower. I’m not entirely sure why I bought the MSI motherboard, but at just $87, it was a good deal. The only drawback is having fewer memory slots, but I’m perfectly fine installing one stick into a full-sized board.

I typically don’t use Wi-Fi on my main PC since I keep an Ethernet hub close by, but I did buy a Wi-Fi external card last year just to test out the wireless capabilities. It works fine, but I definitely prefer the reliability of an Ethernet connection. I think I chose the Wi-Fi MSI motherboard just to have the option, and it’s nice to know I have that flexibility when needed.

If I’m not mistaken, the msrp I saw on the b580 cards is about $250. They are claiming it’s faster than the rtx 4060 and the AMD rx 7600. Of course those are Intels numbers so take them with a grain of salt. I think they are supposed to release in the next couple of weeks so expect reviews on YouTube etc before long.

If you wanted, your current pc likely would take a 5700x3d which should max out your current box and maybe give you the 5700g to tinker with in the box you’re putting together.
