Hi,

I'm going to be building a mid-range gaming pc, in the near future. I've decided on two options for my video card, which are the:
Leadtek Extreme+ Geforce GTX260 896mb:
602MHz Core, 1296MHz Shader Clock, 896MB 1998MHz GDDR3 Memory, 216 Stream Processors, SLi Ready.

and the

HIS ATI Radeon HD 4870 1gb:
750MHz Core, 1024MB 3600MHz GDDR5 Memory, 800 Stream Processors, PCI-E 2.0, CrossfireX Ready, Avivo HD, 7.1 Audio.

I was just wondering what card would any of you recommend out of those two, and maybe another card within the same price range which is better.

Many Thanks
Tom

I'm on a budget of £850 overall, and I'm thinking of spending £100-140 on a graphics card. And the monitor resolution is 1680x1050.
Thanks

he's just spamming the same message across the board. at first i thought he was serious but then i looked at all the threads and he's doing it everywhere, just ignore him

Umm........... yes you will, more in fact. I game at 16x10 and went to a 1792 card from an 896 card. The extra ram helped me get to 8-AA in Crysis without a hiccup. I could also use the 16Q but got stuttering. Try that with your 512 or 896 card.

As far as the original question. The more v-ram the better. Seems to me that 1.5gig would be optimal for quite a few games now. Go for the 1gig card.
