Graphics detecting as an HD 4800 instead of HD 6770

Hello there! First off I'd like to thank anyone who reads this beforehand in my attempt to figure this out.

So the Issue that i'm having with this is that my system is detecting that I have a Radeon HD 4800 series, instead of an HD 6770. I don't have any immediate graphical issue in my games as most of them auto detect it at the 6770, while some detect it being an HD 4800. Now a while back I did have a HD 4850, but the GPU started artifacting on me so I replaced it with the current one. Any help on this would be appreciated, thanks again!

did you uninstall the old driver before putting the new card in

Apologies for the delayed response. Busy with work.

Yes I did uninstall the old driver. I should be more specific. I had a 8800GTX before installing my current 6770. So I mean it's not a big issue just wondering what could cause this issue, and or if anyone else has experienced anything similar or even remotely close to this.

What does your system info says ? Only Dx says this ? Maybe download gpu-z and see what that says.

you could also try http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/SysInfo/GPU-Z/ and the other http://www.ozone3d.net/gpu_caps_viewer/ they will give you exact details on your graphic card
