It's pay day next week and I'll therefore have some liquid cash to burn on a new graphics card to replace my ageing GTX 760 in my z87 i5 build.

I'm going to be willing to spend anything from £250 to £400 (GBP) on a new card, and have no preference between team red or green, although I am already slightly invested in team green with my shield tablet, but gamestream capability is not a big priority.

The new card is going to accompany my new 1440p monitor (only 60Hz, so I don't need anything extremely powerful, but I don't want to be looking at an upgrade before 2 years time).

I don't mind overclocking my card but not for at least a year, I don't want to have to give it an overclock just to be able to run games smoothly out of the box.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions everyone.

A GTX 970 would handle itself decently at 1440p, don't get me wrong, but to play at max settings and keep everything silky smooth, I'd recommend a 980Ti. While I realize it's not quite in your price range, you might want to consider saving up some extra money for go for the big dog which, despite being a very high-end card, is actually a pretty good value itself.
