Gsnyc tearing between 30-40fps?

I just watched a linus tech tips vid covering amd's freesync panels and he stated that the technology is not perfect because you can still experience tearing if the gpu drops down to 30-40fps (tearing occurs). Does anyone know if this would happen with a gsync panel? I was thinking about getting the ROG swift but I'm having second thoughts now. I know someone will say "get a better gpu and don't worry about it" but even the super expensive cards sometimes have dips into those frame rates. (I have a gtx 780 btw). All answers appreciated

Most of Freesync panels have a minimum FPS of 40 before it turns off freesync and either starts using V-sync or nothing depending on your settings. So far, every G-sync monitor has a minimum of 30 FPS before it switches to V-sync, without a non v-sync option. There are exceptions on Freesync, but most are set for 40 FPS minimum. That doesn't mean that makes G-sync perfect on 30 FPS. Some people notice slight flickering at 30 FPS with G-sync, mostly at load screens, which is likely why Freesync has set it to 40 FPS.

i think you understand it the wrong way. to be exact different monitor will have different minimum frame rates where FreeSync is functioning. some are 30hz but from what i'm aware of most of them settle for 40hz. so for example for monitors with minimum freesync window at 30hz you will get screen tearing when your frame rates is below 30. so AMD is giving you option here to turn on v-sync on or off when the frame rates are outside FreeSync applicable range.

i heard that when GSync goes beyond the upper limit of monitor refresh rate they say Gsync will behave the same as V-Sync being turn on and will introduce input lag but some other said it will not. which one is true?

Gsync, from what I've heard, and read, goes with V-sync when you reach the refresh rate or goes below 30 FPS. Freesync gives you the option to turn off V-sync or have it on. I'd think at the upper limit, most people would prefer it be on. I can't think of a reason you won't. At the low end, turning it off as an option makes sense.

The tests I've seen does show the latency when you get near the refresh rate cap, like V-sync.
