Howdy folks,
I am looking into buying a new graphics card and after alot of searching I have found what I think is the most suitable card, the GT 730 GDDR5 2GB low profile card. The two brands that stock a low profile version of this card are EVGA and MSI. The EVGA seems to be more popular than the MSI. My computer is an Acer Aspire AX3950, therefore this is the best card I can possibly use, given I cannot afford to buy a new computer.
Basically I have done alot of research about expanding, buying a new computer, buying a new PSU etc and decided this is my best option. The TDP of my current graphics card (GT 320) is 43 watts. So the gt 730 seems the best replacement I can find. The GTX 750 is a great low profile card but I don't think its safe to run on my PSU and it won't fit into my small case anyway. I basically have a few questions...
1. What is the fan like on the EVGA and MSI GT 730 GDDR5 2GB? I have heard from reviews of the MSI card that it is loud.
2. What is the TDP of the MSI and EVGA card? I see conflicting information on various different sites i.e. MSI site, EVGA site, newegg, amazon... MSI site says 30 watts. EVGA site doesnt say. Geforce site says it is 25 watts. Some sites say as high as 49 watts.
Here are links MSI card on amazon and newegg. Here are links for EVGA card on amazon and newegg.
P.S I am aware the minimum recommendation for any GPU is 300 watt/20 AMP on the 12V rail. I have been running a 43 watt graphics card on a 220watt PSU for over four years so I am comfortable buying a new graphics card below that.
