GTA V fps is super low with a gtx 1080 ti

Hey guys, I just built a new computer and I wanted to test its performance in games like GTA v.So, after launching GTA v, I noticed that while my general graphics settings were at max, I was getting like 100 fps (using 3.8 GB VRAM) and when I turn on frame scaling and set it to 2500x (on a 1080p resolution) i get like 30 fps.Below you can see my current build:

CPU : Ryzen 7 1800x 3.6 Ghz(not oc)
GPU : Gtx 1080 ti
Ram : 16GB 3200Mhz

I can't justify the performance since i am using such a high end gpu.Any ideas? Is the resolution of the monitor causing a bottleneck? Is it the cpu's frequency?

What resolution scale are you using?

A 1080TI is pretty overkill for 1080p, and you're unlikely to utilize >4-6GB of VRAM in GTA V at that resolution, regardless of the GPU/in-game settings you're using

I assume you mean 250% and not 2500x?

1080p = 1920x1080 = 2,073,600 pixels
200% frame scaling IIRC = 4K = 3840x2160 = 8,294,400 pixels

>200%, you're essentially pushing resolutions >4K.... which is still (mostly) out of reach, even for a 1080TI

What does Task Manager show the CPU/GPU usage as?

There's a good chance that the game is trying to run primarily/exclusively off of the CPU thinking "wow! this CPU can handle this no problem!"

So you'll have to go into the Nvidia Control Panel in Control Panel and specify that you want the game to run exclusively off of your GPU.

Yeah I meant 250% whichi know is essentially 4k but with my previous gpu (970 4gb) i could do the same settings but with 200% in framescaling and still get 40 to 50 fps.

Could a 2k or 4k monitor offer better fps?

I will check this out and let you know. Sound plausible!

I just checked and when i am in the game playing with the previously mentioned settings, my CPU is at 18% and the GPU at 2%! But i don't see any options in the nvidia control panel for setting my gpu as the main rendering source for the game. Shouldn't it already do that by default since i don't have any other gpu or apu?

I don't have such an option in my nvidia control panel :(
