gtx 1070 fx6300 will it work

basically i bought a pre built pc last year. now im looking to upgrade currently i have an fx6300 on a ga-78-lmt motherboard. my plan was to get a gtx 1070 and pray i dont bottleneck so bad its a waste. ive been reading around on here all morning and im just looking for some imput on what i should do

You will have pretty bad bottlenecking in new games. FX 6300 is too slow if you want to have smooth 60 FPS. I wouldn't pair that CPU with anything faster than GTX 1050ti.

What PSU do you have? Most pre-builts have crappy PSUs that probably couldn't handle an upgrade anyway.

PSU 500w was upgrading to 850

Oh, ok fair enough. I would say an 850 W is way overkill, and you're better off getting a high quality ~550-650W, but it's your call.

ah well it may end up coming down to be spending more money to upgrade everything

yeah 850 is a bit overkill but i figure for the price im going to pay for a 650 its 20 more for the 850. i was buying the cosair cx-m850 bronze
