Hey everyone, I need some experts opinion regarding my graphic card upgrade.

I have lenovo thinkstation S30 which have the following specs:

1- Processor: Xeon E5-1607 3GHZ

2- Memory: 12 GB of RAM 1600MHZ

3- Graphics card: Nvidia Quadro 2000

4- Power supply: 600 watt

I want to upgarde the Graphics card with either nvidia GTX 1650 or nvidia GTX 1660 but I am afraid that my CPU would bottleneck GTX 1660.

Can someone tell if it is worth to buy the GTX 1660 or it would be greatly bottlenecked and I should stay with the GTX 1650?

Where I live the GTX 1650 costs around 150 euros while the GTX 1660 costs around 220 euros.

Any suggestions?

Thanks alot for your reply I would put this solution into my considersation also and I would be grateful if you can recommend me other good alternatives for the e5 2670 in case I didn't find it here. and also if you can share with me your build specs, how did you cool your cpu for example? I am not so expert but I know that overclocking the cpu requires additional cooling to the system otherwise there would be some risks.

But honestly I don't want to spend too much on this machine or do alot of upgrades, I got this machine with only 100 euros from the company I work for as it is an old machine, and I may consider buying a whole new machine maybe after 2 years.

the e5 1607 is good enough for my personal work and I was thinking that...
I would recommend purchasing a better cpu. There are so many options on ebay for used xeons that would fit. I recently purchased an e5 2670 8 core at 3.1ghz boost (lga 2011 as well) for 45 dollars and it handles my 1070 ti just fine. Any left over cash and be spent on a gpu or saved for a later gpu purchase.

the e5 1607 is good enough for my personal work and I was thinking that maybe a vega upgrade could also allow me to play some FPS games on high settings with fair frame rate.

So do you think I can achieve that by only getting the gtx 1650 or the 1660 upgrade?

You can definitely get 60 fps at ultra with a 1660 but anything past 60 is usually cpu dependent. I use an e5 2670, 32gb ddr3 ecc 1333mhz, gtx 1070 ti, 650 watt rosewill psu, hp z420 motherboard. I also use a custom loop for my cpu but honestly I have used a hyper 212 evo on this cpu and had about the same temps. If you were to get an e5 1650, this would provide excellent performance because it is essentially the xeon version of the 3930k. Ebay has so many options for 6 core xeons on this socket that are over 3ghz for under 80 bucks.
