Currently running dual 8800gts 640mb and can run just about ANY game on MAX settings @ 1920x1200 (obviously except crysis - although i can run on a mix of High and V.high and its playable) BUT ive got money burning a HUGE hole in my pocket.

i use a phenom x4 9850 currently @ 2.9GHz, is this likely to cause any bottlenecking with the GTX260 SLi setup??? I dont think theres any so far with the 8800's.

Are there any games coming out soon that are likely to be too much even for the GTX260 SLi setup?? If so 'd rather wait for the new gtx3** series and potentially SLi them in future.

Will OCZ GameXstreme 600Watt be suffice for 2x gtx260's ...??? I thikn it would be.

i dont know what to do...i want so bad but have a feeling gtx 300 series is gonna be about 4x faster than a gtx260 ??

Anyone have any experience running Crysis on SLi'd 260's?? Can u run it on MAX everything and still be playable???

You say you can run just about any game on MAX settings, so the rest of your post makes little sense.

Best advice is stop wasting money moving up the technology ladder one step at a time. Wait until you have enough money and need to take a noticeable step forward, then make a big jump.

Or you can google something like "260 sli review" and scan results like these:

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/252411-33-evga-benchmark-results

http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews.php?/gpu_displays/xfx_gtx_260_xxx_sli_performance/6

and see if the data will allow you to pull your itchy trigger finger.

I'm looking to futureproof the rig, i expect the 8800GTS sLi setup will be a bit too slow for the next generation of games? Crysis already being an example as its still ahead of its time even now.

2 gtx 260 sli will be a great upgrade. It will handle all games out fine and even the newer ones. With that psu you will cut it close but it will work. DX11 cards is around the corner i would wait a bit longer if you can.

Thanks for replies.

Ive since found out that gtx260 requires 2xPCIE power connectors EACH and my PSU only has 2. SO im gonna have to wait for the GTX 3 series and hopefully one card will only require 2 PCIE power connectors giving same performance if not better than 2x gtx260 and not have to upgrade the PSU till i want to SLi again!

While Crysis is amazing looking game keep in mind that it was one of the worst coding jobs ever done. Warhead runs so much smoother on any set up. Just wait if your looking to 'future proof' then you should wait for the latest thing that is a given. But as always 6-8 months after the cards come out the ATI 6XXX and Nvidia 400 will be out and Crysis 2 or some other game will force hardware to the limit and make the cards that are about to come out cry. That is just how things go.

I'd expect more power from newer cards, every generation gets bigger and badder, and therefor, need more power.

Not really. My antec earthwatt has 2 6pin pcie. All i did is use the adapter that came with my cards. 2 4pin to 1 6pin adapter.

Get another 260 and Sli....

I used to have dual 250's and the performance was ridiculous, even in Warhead I was gettin mad FPS with some eye-candy.....

The next gen cards will use dual 6 pin connectors as well, meaning you should upgrade the PSU first if you are thinking of SLI'ing 2 power hungry cards....
