When starting my PC with the monitor cable in the DVI-I port of my GTX 260, no image appears when I enter Windows.
Then, using a DVI to HDMI adapter, I get image, then plugging the DVI cable back into the DVI port, I get image.
But, when I reboot my computer or start a fullscreen game, image disappears and I'm stuck having to use the DVI to HDMI adapter.
Can anyone help me solve this issue?

Is the gpu also connected to a 2nd monitor or just the one?

HIB i think he already tried using the DVI port on the card, although i would like to ask if he tried both of them.

Also when you enter windows??? So do you get the image during boot but it goes away when you get to windows?

I have tried booting with both the DVI-to-DVI connection and DVI-to-HDMI connection.
DVI-to-DVI connection, I can see BIOS, but as soon as I enter Windows, monitors shows "no connection". So I switch to DVI-to-HDMI.
After switching to DVI-to-HDMI, still in Windows though, I plug my monitor back into DVI and it works.
Its only when it boots.

What is the PSU? Somehow, it seems like the videocard fails to send a signal after POST while Windows fires up. Very weird. My only guess is that the videocard "sputters" as if the PSU momentarily can't give it enough juice when the CPU/RAM/Hard drive all suck power.

Or it could be more monitor. Next time it shows no connection, turn it off. After your PC loads windows, turn on the monitor, hit the enter ket, ans see if it displays.
