Hello,i am going to get a few new parts for my pc so i have trouble choosing a video card the trouble is

Does the XFX Ati radeon 5770HD 1GB? perform same as the GTX260?

the system i am building is

intel core i7 930 2.8ghz

Corsair Dominator 3X2GB 1600mhz memory tri channel whit the i7

INTEL ATX X58 LGA1366 FSB1600 DDR3 RAID

Coolermaster 620W PSU

and i cant decide the gtx 260 or the xfx hd 5770? no idea how they perform if compared,if any one could help me decide i would be thankfull.

dang it techpowerup dosent have anything stated about HD5770 and GTX260 on metro, didnt know the metro supported dx11 but i dont know i might get the 5770 its like this 45% thinking of the 5770 and 55% thinking of the gtx 260 😀

The point of Vsync is actually to lower your frames per second. Your monitor has a certain refresh rate. If it is an LCD it is most likely 60hz. This means that your monitor only actually displays 60 frames per second. Any numbers you get above that are essentially meaningless and unviewable. The point of Vsync is to sync your video card with the monitor's output for the smoothest experience and to eliminate screen tearing. On games where your frame rate consistently stays about 60 frames per second there is no reason not to enable Vsync.
In terms of actual graphical settings AA is usually one of the most intensive.

The GTX 260 is a DX10 card while the HD5770 is DX11. Metro 2033 is a DX11 game. This means that you cannot directly compare the game maxed out between those two cards. Maxing out the game on the HD5770 means you will be able to use tessellation, AA modes and other graphical settings that are simply unavailable when using the GTX 260.

so the Vsync dosent make anything look better in gaming if i put Vsync on?

my monitor is 60HZ but i can always change it to 75HZ so its 75HZ monitor if i change it. It always let me change it on any game, but i dont know if this one is lcd monitor didnt say anything on the box when we bought it i was like 8 years old when we bought this monitor so i didnt care if its lcd or not.

😀 but if u use dx11 it lowers fps lol i wouldnt want to use the 5770 on most dx11 games i would like to get a 5970 then it would be a monster but the 5970 costs alot its like almost 2X more than in USD.

As everyone has been telling you all along there is literally no reason at all to be considering a GTX 260. It is outdated and power hungry. It offers no advantages over the HD5770 and in the US at least it is also more expensive, though I don't know the relative prices where you are.

lol? i saw newegg, tigerdirect, amazon those cards arent even expensive compared to our money i pay 2x more for a card becouse well as u can see our country has money named (Litai) you would not probably understand that money but u can go to google pictures and tipe "Litai" u will see how it looks like.

the i7 930 is like 284$ like i saw on amazon,so the 284$ compared to our money which is named LITAI is

the I7 930 Costs 1009 LITAI,1009 LITAI Compared to American money is 400$ now u see the diffarance? 😀 it just costs much becouse when something is released since intel company is in United States or something they make the cpus there and sell em in America thats why its kinda cheap in your country,so the reason its 400$ is becouse when they release the cpu my country Lithuania Orders the i7 cpus From Canada or New York or United States i dont really know where the intel company is but its in America i bet,so it orders it from America since its far far away also it needs money to ship from the America to our country shops and it adds like 120$ dollars so its a little expensive in our country.

More like the GTX275 is alot more power hungry than the gtx260

gtx260 isnt power hungry on max load i heard its like 182 watts and somewhere else ive read they said its 244wats well if it wont reach 300w at max load its probably fine

Just PLEASE tell me WHY do you want to get a GTX260 instead of HD 5770 so desperately?

calm down rofl, well ive always been a nvidia fan but the gtx260 compared to ati raden 5770HD both in dx10 they are kinda the same you are right but like radeon beats gtx260 in quake 4,radeon beats gtx260 in call of duty 4 whit 1280x724 or whater res is it but why lol? gtx260 beats radeon in 1282x1204 on call of duty 4?

the reason i want gtx260 becouse

1-i always been a nvidia fan

2-they say the 5000 ati radeon cards have driver problems

3-its 128 bit interface which is LOW!

4-GTX260 sounds cooler

5-GTX has 444Bit interface which is ALOT BETTER

i dont want it so desperately,i am now thinking of getting a hd5770 instead but i just want to see the game fps's on those both cards that the techpower website u gave me.

omfg the GTX260 core 216 only comsumes 168W at MAXIMUM LOAD? wow not even a power hungry card i swear lol btw thats the superclocked version that consumes 168W, the normal one comsumes 186W at MAXIMUM LOAD,but still i thought it consumes alot more...

1-GDDR5 memory solves the problem with the 128-bit interface, so it's acting like high-speed GDDR3 with 256-bit interface and more.

2-GTX260's 448-bit interface is USLESS, remember that HD4800 series had 256-bit interface, and that HD 4850 is the same as the GTX260 with 192 shaders.

3-driver problems are long gone.

4-sorry, but you're an idiot if you would pick GTX260 just because of it's "cool" name.

lol you can ignore that one wasnt seriosly about the GTX name.

and are u sure the driver problems are long gone?

Seriously, you can post the GTX 260 vs HD5770 question anywhere you want and you will get the same answer. I don't see what the point of asking us was if when everyone gives you the same answer and explains exactly why but then you just ignore us. If you made up your mind ahead of time and want to buy the GTX 260 because you like Nvidia and "GTX260 sounds cooler" then just get the card but don't waste other people's time pretending you actually care which is the better card.

i do trust you i am not ati fan so you probably know alot better about ATI,just wanted to make sure.

Also the HD5770 Consumes more performance per WATT does it mean its faster and better?

GTX260 consumes 68% per WATT the HD5770 Consumes 106% PER WATT.

and do ATI Cards work good whit intel like the i7?

or they are based good on the AMD CPUS?

thanks

i decided to go whit the hd5770 after seing those specs the gtx260 is like 8 fps faster in other games and the hd5770 is like 15 fps faster in other games so its the same just checked them.

i will go for 5770 i just need an answer from the Unknown 13 that is intel i7 works good whit the ATI Cards

or ATI works good whit AMD CPUS.... so ill wait

i also dont like that the XFX 260GTX and the XFX HD5770 dosent have a backplate i always get dust on my 9800gt so i will probably get on them too.

althrought the EVGA Version has a backplate on the 260gtx,

but does the HD5770 have a backplate? if you know can you please answer what brand has a backplate for the 5770.

i am using CoolerMaster HAF 922 Case whit 1 side fan that i bought but still there are dust on the videocard that is whitout a backplate =/

There are a lot of different cooler designs so you'll have to be more specific and what exactly do you mean by a "backplate"?
As for the CPU thing there is no difference. The only difference will be with the motherboard if you want the option of adding a second card in the future. Almost all boards with 2 PCIE x16 slots are crossfire(ATI) capable but only certain boards are SLI(Nvidia) because Nvidia charges the manufacturer $5 per board to be licensed.

copy that and paste on the search bar at the top u will see an evga gtx260 whit a backplate and i want to know if there is one on the 5770 becouse so far i only saw radeon HD'S 5770's whit no backplate. and is the INTEL ATX X58 LGA1366 FSB1600 DDR3 RAID crossfire based mobo or SLI?

thanks

Of course it will work.

DON'T go with Intel boards!! Make sure you get either ASUS, Gigabyte or MSI. And X58 supports both SLI and Crossfire i think.

And no i don't think that 5770 has any "backplate". Never heard of it. I'm sure that most of ATi and Nvidia cards don't have one.

And as for the performance per watt thing, it measures how much a card is efficient. You can see that the 5770 is a LOT more efficient than the old GTX260, which means consumes lot less power but giving same or better performance. That's due to the 5700 series die size and 40nm process.

yes i know it will "work" but will it work i just wanted to know if its compitable good whit intel processors, becouse i think like this

Intel=NVIDIA

ATI=AMD ;D

If you read that thread you will see that there is no functional purpose of a backplate unless the card has memory on the back as is described. Without that it is actually a bad thing as it will help trap heat. It's at best pointless for the cards you are considering.
