Hello all,

I looked at alot of benchmarks and the GTX 460 SE GPU seems to be about 5 % less then my HD 5850 ( would this be a safe to say ? )

I can off load my HD 5850 for the same price i can get a GTX 460 SE SC http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130597 ( now with the OC on this card it should be about on par with my HD 5850 no ? < Question.

I am also thinking in about 6 to 8 months, maybe pick up another GTX 460 for maybe 100 bucks ( i am hopping ) to SLI

Long as i can do 40 to 60 FPS in games its good for me, I play at 1920x1080 rez

Games

Dirt2
AvP
Dragon age
CoD WAW
CoD MW2
Batman
Left4Dead and Left4Dead2
Crysis ( only for testing FPS ) < really not a fun game for me :)

What do you guys think ? i hope it wont be going backwards to much, I am just not loving my HD 5850 ( my GTX 260 just seemed to play games smoother ( yes the HD 5850 gave more FPS but seemed like the GTX played better.

( EDIT ) or you think a GTX 470 for 100 bucks more ? for a 5 to 7 % over a HD 5850 ? IMO not really worth it me thinks

i dont really see the point in this kind of "upgrade". If your going to upgrade from a 5850 do it properly or you will just end up with a different card that plays games the same as what you already had, seems like a waste of time and effort to me. Why not get another 5850 and crossfire??? or if you really want to ditch the 5850 and get something else that can be crossfire in the future try the 6850 http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ATI/Radeon_HD_6850_CrossFire/10.html
http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/gzbe5/ is what i have mine at, compared to the 108GB stock SE

You could easily overclock the SE over the clocks of a normal 460.

Plus the 460SE requires less power and would be easier to SLI as such, not to mention costs less for such a minimal difference in performance.

Video Memory: 1GB

Memory Type: GDDR5

Memory Interface: 256-bit

Stream Processors: 288

Core Clock: 650 MHz

Memory Clock: 3400 MHz

Shader Clock: 1300 MHz

Memory Bandwidth: 108.8GB/sec

Thats my card at default. Minimum difference to the Normal 460 imo, few less cores, few less this n that, clocks are a few mhz below, but thats about it.

That Hardware Canuck's review said that the best scenario for the 460 SE over the 460 768 MB was when playing at high resolutions with high details turned on.

I have hade this HD 5850 when i built this i5 750 rig, my old E8500 setup i hade a GTX 260. ( So it has only seen ati drivers. )

The driver has stopped responding ( only happens when i close a game, and not all the time. ) I think for now I will just deal with it and do a new GPU upgrade when this card stops playing games @ 1080 at normal to high settings.

i Got a gigabyte gtx 460 se.I already overclocked it to 820 mhz no problem. my current temps are 30 c to 38 in game i was aiming for about 930 mhz I NEED YOU HELP IM NEW TO OVERCLOCKING!!!
😱

I Currently have my eVGA 460 SE @ 850 Core - 1700 Shaders - 2020 Memory

Never had any problems what so ever with that Overclock Temps wise or anything else.

Just use the old eVGA Precision or MSI Afterburner to Overclock.

You may want to start off at a smaller overclock and see how it does though.
