GTX 670 or some AMD side?

So I am getting a GTX 670 MSI Power Edition but is there a AMD side there is better in performance but doesn't cost more than a GTX 670?

Plan to play games at 1920x1080 if I can turned everything to max?

Also AMD have a good thing where you get 4 games with it at the moment.

The only thing meaningfully cheaper from AMD that would beat it would be a manually overclocked 7950.

The 7970 is about the same, maybe a tiny bit better than, the 670 - just depends on the game. If you can pick up a 7970 cheaper than a 670, it's worth it. But last I checked 7970s were (rightfully) a bit more expensive than 670s.

Also, a single 670 with a decent overclock should be able to max out basically anything on a 60Hz, 1080p monitor. Mine can max out most games on a 120Hz, 1080p monitor with ease - the only ones it can't do that with are the ones that have settings like supersampling that can be turned off without noticing ANY decrease in looks at 1080p.

I was going to recommend a sapphire card but wow, they're way overpriced there. yeah, I'll definitely second the recommendation on the Gigabyte card

Seriously use the gpu hierarchy chart. It is very accurate right now. The 7970 IS 10-20% stronger at stock and the 7950 is about 5-10% weaker at stock.

When the 7950 is overclocked it matches or slightly beats the overclocked 670, and when the 7970 GHz is overclocked it loses the 670 in its review mirror as it zips past the overclocked 680 too!

@ 1080p you will not notice any differences between the 7950, 7970 or the GTX 670. Go for the cheapest one and stay away from reference cooling, unless your planning SLI or Crossfire.

Thirded. I own the Gigabyte GTX 670. Stays cool, and is near silent. I presume the fan setup is quite similar to the HD7970.

I could say something about your post like everyone else did, but I'll cover a different fallacy in it... The Radeon 7970 doesn't overclock better than the Radeon 7950 by much at all on average (granted the 7970 GHz Edition is known to have a decent advantage in this, but it is kinda hindered by its inferior BIOS). So, pretty much everything that you said is false to some degree. Also, according to Tom's graphics card chart, the 7970 is at best about 10% better than the 670 on average and even then, the difference is usually a little less than that (still on average).

The place I'm buying it from I don't know if they have the new batch ones that fixed it. How do I know this?

The answer is simple i look at it like this which ever gives me better bang for my buck and has solid driver support and favors the games i play that will be the card i pick when i buy one rather it be amd or Nvidia makes no difference to me i favor my wallet :lol:

I'd prefer the 7970, but that's because I'd use it in ways that it tends to best the 670. Some other people (possibly such as yourself) might use the 670 in ways that it bests the 7970. For example, I don't care about 3D gaming, but if you did, from what I've read, Nvidia has AMD beat in 3D gaming and that would make the 670 be a better option.

If given the opportunity, I'd use some programs that can make use of the huge Direct Compute and OpenCL advantage that the 7970 has over the 670. The 7970's overclocking advantage would definitely also play a part in my decision.

PhysX wouldn't worry me because if I wanted GPU PhysX, then I'd throw in one of my many spare Nvidia cards to act as a PhysX processing unit for the 7970 and I don't care much for adaptive V-Sync (I prefer Lucid Virtual V-Sync).

If I was to recommend a 670, then I'd probably go for the Zotac AMP! model.

That's because there's no one-size-fits-all answer to which of those two cards is the better buy.

The good news is it means you can't really make a wrong choice. You should be happy either way.

The 7970 is a whopping, massive, ENORMOUS 4.2% faster than the 670.

Get some facts before you post

You don't get it. I benchmarked MY cards. Those are my results. Also I never trust techpowerup. I can reproduce the results of every other website but theirs. Last, that is after overclocking. But then again I did just bench my 7970 OC'd vs a 680 OC'd in ugine heaven and my 7970 was 20% higher sooo....
