Hi everyone !

I got damn issue with my computer. My games don't run smooth with high FPS ! i don't understand what's happening.
It looks like stuttering, i must cap my framerate to 60 for having smooth gameplay. But i still have stutter at some place.
This is a video from battlefield 3 on empty server, look at mouse move, it's not as smooth as it should be with 70-90 fps.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1pSwLIXz6rw&feature=youtu.be

I got the same issue in every game, i HAVE TO cap the framerate at 60 for smooth gameplay but all stutter don't disappear.
I know it's not obvious on this video to see the issue, but watch it carefully.

Computer :

I7 2600K @ 4.2 ghz
Asus P8Z68 Deluxe
G-skil 2x4 go Pc12800
GTX 680 Gigabyte OC
SSD Samsung 830
Corsair HX850

My temp are good, OCCT test passed, prime95 ran for 2 hours ok. I don't know what's wrong. Do you ?

Your screen only has 60 HZ it seems. The HZ of a screen is the indicator of how many frames it can show pr. second. So, if you got a 60 HZ screen and your FPS goes above that framerate, then you will experience microstuttering. Adaptive vsync should solve this problem. You can turn it on in your Nvidia control panel.

Which is why normal Vysnc is good. Adaptive vsync sucks and is buggy and little more than a marketing scam that appeals to noobs and fanboys. nvidia did not reinvent the wheel and heck the did not even make it any better they made it worse and more contrived with adaptive vsync.

They did not. Read the reviews.

60hz monitors don't show 73fps LOL. I just tried Adaptive mode in Fallout New Vegas and what I like about it is that instead of the framerate bouncing between 59.9999 and 60fps it just locks the framerate at 59.8 steady. As far as the input lag argument I am not sure if I can even notice a perceivable difference between Adaptive and regular Vysnc in Fallout New Vegas. But i do really like that adaptive keeps the framerate at an exact locked framerate with absolutely zero fluctuation albeit it still sucks when the screen tears on the New Vegas strip when the framerate dips just below the monitors refreshrate. I am still not 100% sold on adaptive Vsync but the frame lock is very nice in Fallout new Vegas at leased.

When i turn on Vsynch, it becomes smoother, but i still have stutter sometimes. So i have to limit the framerate at 60 with afterburner ! i know vsynch supposed to lock the framerate at 60 like the monitor ( 60 hz ) but it's not enough.

So when vsynch + limit 60 fps, it's really smooth ! but i could get little stutter... So there is an issue and i'd like to fix it !

And i don't understand why i didn't get all this sh*t 1 month ago. I could play very smooth without vsynch. Now it's just impossible. Just amazing

 😉

All cards will stutter here and there thats a reality, and Nvidia's implementation "Adpative Sync" is not the second coming of Jesus! Everyone only wishes that Nvidia has solved the stuttering problem but that is false. Some games will stutter others will not!

Exactly my point in that most gamers cannot afford a card that can even make use of adaptive Vsync because most gamers do not have rigs that can maintain a framerate always at or more than the monitors refreshrate.

Ok but vsync and adaptive vsync make input lag ! If you play BF3 online, you can't have input lag, otherwise you will aim bad.

But we should focus on my issue, stutter appeared suddenly, everything seemed good and the day after, it's over, stutter everywhere, why ? 🙁

The point of setting the fps limit to 73 is to reduce mouse lag AND lower the rendering speed between frames to reduce stutter.

You see "stutter" when frame rendering speed goes over 16ms at 60fps.

Locking the fps higher than 60fps reduces the rendering time between frames thus lowering stutter because fewer frames are rendered over the 16ms threshold.

I noticed the same. Sometimes i should cap my framerate to 61 or 62 to avoid stutter when 60 goes down to 59. But why 73 fps ? Why this number ? On 60 hz screen, why should i limit to 73 and not 62 or 65, 70 ? i don't understand this number.

BF3 will give you jerky framerate if you put vsync off.Cap your framerate GameTime.MaxVariableFps 60 in the user.cfg file in your bf3 folder. All games feels jerky when you turn vsync off.Its a fact.Get over it.Best fix is 120hz monitor.

Thanks for advice, i'm already capping my framerate with afterburner to 60, and it's much better but i still have little stutter sometime, and i want to fix it. Something's wrong and wanna find it out

Cap with user.cfg.Not afterburner. In MP there will be always some stutter. Its network releated. Play SP.It should be stutter free. Also try to siwtch server in BF3.Some bf3 servers can give you terrible stutters coz they run from shitty machinesAdd me in battelog we can discuss there.Same name as here.Turn VSync off when you cap framerate.
