Hello,

I am having a problem with the graphics card on my computer though I am not sure if it is or not. I had my EVGA GTX 760 SuperClocked with ACX cooling in my computer and it no longer functions properly.
Whenever I boot up with drivers installed it goes to a very low res windows loading screen and only has a loading bar not the usual fancy looking one. My monitor proceeds to say "No signal" straigt after this even though the computer is working. It boots up fine when I load into safemode or remove the driver.
When Windows tries to install a VGA driver for my graphics card it detects it fine as it shows by saying "GTX 760".

The real problem here is that it may be the motherboard but I am not so sure. The reason I think this is I have another graphics card "GTX 560 Ti" and that worked for about an hour then stopped and no longer works.

My specs are:
Intel i5 3570k
Asus P8Z77-V LX
EVGA GTX 760 SC ACX cooling
500w Xigmatek PSU
8GB Corsair Vengance RAM

I have tried a few things: clearing CMOS, reinstalling drivers several times to different versions, installing a different graphics card.

I would be very thankful if someone could help me further trouble shoot the issue and possibly fix it.

Thanks,
Jon

P.S. if you believe it is not the graphics card and it is the motherboard then I will move/post a topic in the motherboard area.

Would you happen to have an extra PSU to check if its a PSU problem?

I am no expert but if the PSU is failing to supply power to your GPU, you will get a 'No Signal'; it would also explain why both your cards are not working.

Use HWMonitor (http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html) to check if your PSU is supplying the correct voltage over the 12v rail.

I am afraid I do not have another PSU laying around. My PSU does supply correct voltage as it was working for about 6 months with 0 problems. The graphics card turns on as fans are moving and is sometimes detected by the computer. My 560 Ti graphics card worked for a while anyway and requires less power than that of the 760.

Thanks for the reply,
Jon

I have tried HDMI to HDMI which does not work. However I do not believe this is the problem, as whether the computer starts or not seems to depend on whether the driver for the GPU is installed on not.

Thanks very much for the reply,
Jon

A psu can fail after 6 months of working. A bad cable can cause your symptoms. The only cable you have tried is hdmi? You cant try another one? The best way to diagnose the problem is not to blow off testing parts.

The only 2 compatible cables I have are HDMI to HDMI which doesn't work, and HDMI (on monitor) to DVI. However DVI-D works whereas DVI-L doesn't.
Are there any obivious signs that I can look for when the PSU isn't working, as everything else appears to be working fine though the GTX 760 has the highest power requirement of all the parts on my computer, though it does have the correct amps on 12V+ rail.

Thanks,
Jon

EDIT: My monitor has a VGA port as well; it is a TV monitor.

Just trying to get more info. You said it works with hdmi to dvi, is that what you normally use? And it doesnt work with hdmi to hdmi, like it shows nothing? If you can be very specific it would help.

I usally use HDMI (on monitor) to DVI-L (on the graphics card). I have never use HDMI to HDMI before and it just comes up with the generic "No video signal" message. When in HDMI to DVI-L it shows nothing again, the "No video signal" message, but to HDMI to DVI-D it does work.
Whenver I uninstall the driver for my GPU my computer boots up and logs on just like windows normal does but in low res 800x600 instead of 1920x1080. When the drive is installed it still boots up in low res 800x600 but my monitor displays the "No video signal" after it gets to the loading bar for windows, just before the log in screen.

Thanks,
Jon

Ok thank you for the detail. Do you use the same HDMI cable each time but with an adapter? I say this, because if you get no signal with just the HDMI cable I would try a different cable first thing. See if you can find one.

I use a different cable; one is strictly HDMI to HDMI, the other is HDMI to DVI. I have searched everywhere for a different cable and I can't find one.

Do you recommend that I buy a new cable or I send my PC back to the custom manufacturer from where I bought it from as it has a 3 year labout warrenty and a 2 year parts warrenty or do you think I can fix the issue myself somehow.

Let me know if you need more specific details or some kind of information.

Thanks again,
Jon

I am not entirely sure. I update several random drivers and let windows decide what driver to install on my GTX 760 and it just worked. I am sorry I can't give any more of a better solution than that.

Thanks again,
Jon
