I'm looking to buy a GTX 770. I can't decide which one....2GB OR 4GB....Is it worth the extra money to get 4GB? I will be using one monitor 1920x1080. Future proofing? Is 4GB beneficial? Thanks

I think you should go for the R9 280X dude, that is what I did, I also had to make the same decision a week ago, but in many ways, i saw that the R9 280X was better, unless you're going for SLI. Take a look at this http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XNjE5ODEyOTU2.html
I don't know if you could watch that video or not, (I am in China, instead of YouTube they have this YouKu LOL)

If you were going for R9 280X too, make sure you don't get the reference, for it gets too hot, Toxic is the BEST! 😀

Update: Typo 😀

I hope you enjoy the card, i think you've decided to buy that Toxic one, right?

Actually, first I also had my eyes set on GTX 770, it's too shiny, beautiful and cool too! But i saw everywhere that R9 280x was being suggested by everybody, so I got my sleeves up, and started searching, comparing, and finding out about how do people like their cards. I saw that both of them are cool cards and people are happy with both of them, but i went for this toxic because it was cooler, better performance than GTX 770, and other 280Xs. And i forgot to mention the Mantle thingy too, which i specifically don't know what it is even after reading a lot about it. 😀 But I know it's good!

Anyway, let me know how your card works when you get it, and tell us what MOBO have you got there. Because actually i am going to get my NEW mobo after about 20 days. 🙁

My new MOBO:
Board: Asrock H-87-Pro4
CPU: Xeon E3 1230 V3 @3.3Ghz
GPU: Sapphire R9 280X Toxic
SSD: Adata 128G
Memory: Kingston HyperX Blu 8G @ 1600 Mhz

I am not at any cost interested in over clocking. It sounds like ask your 8 hour worker to work 12/7 hours, sounds harsh... 😀 but people like it! :)

BEST OF LUCK dude!

Thank you for the kind words :) I've actually got the same motherboard 😛 I went to my local shop and they don't even have the toxic listed there. Not even in a few other shops that I checked...There's PcCaseGear but that's only online...Where the hell can I find it in Aus? I'll email CPL and see if they'll get it in stock :) Thanks!

how about a gigabyte windforce 3x card with 3 fans? - they have really good cooling,
i had 2 gtx560's in the past - one quite expensive Asus directCU2 and a Gigabyte Windforce 2x -
the gigabyte was actually a better card even tho it was a bit cheaper... Asus were bragging about their 100% noise free components onboard,
yet the card had a pretty terrible coil whine, Gigabyte was completely silent and the fans were quieter at full load too...so i can recommend them

not sure what's the difference between these two... just don't buy a reference card... those have much worse cooling and it gets pretty loud...

- also keep in mind the asus noise issues were something exclusive to the gtx560's - other models didn't suffer from that and generally the Directcu cards have some of the best build quality from all brands,
Just gigabyte 3x versions have better cooling and yet they keep the price low,
just need to make sure your case is not too small but they should fit in most ATX cases...
