Hi Tom and everyone else, I bought a pair of 770s two years ago, one out of warranty and one in and found that over the past few months, GPU 1 has been going through a few issues. It started with a huge drop in frame rates while playing a certain game along with static audio and then a completely freeze. It wasn't the same with every game I played, but others were definitely worse. It got so bad at one point that I couldn't even boot into windows. It somehow fixed itself and then every now and then seemed to go through a few sound issues. After doing a bit of tinkering, I realised that it was only happening with GPU 1 and when I set my display to only go through GPU 2, everything was running fine. The sound was clear, games ran well and the system in general didn't feel so sluggy, so I yesterday removed GPU 1 and feel so much relief (as does it seem my PC), and while I'm lucky enough that the card in question still has 2 months warranty on it (The other is now sadly 7 days out of warranty, though it shouldn't be such an issue) so I will be doing an RMA with my supplier (assuming they don't mess me about, I get a little scared of that), but I'd like to know if anyone has any idea what is causing this?
From what I've monitored, when I've been able to, the card would usually be somewhat cool (around 60 degrees), but the power usage reach 100%, at one point, something related to power even reached the number limit. I figure heat was never the issue as I never felt safe letting the card reach above 85 degrees, so it would always throttle when it hit that target.
If you're curious about warranty information, It's an MSI GTX 770 2GB and I'm in the UK.
Thank you.
TL;DR - GPU 1 in GTX 770 build suffering distorted audio, low frame rates, freezes and on occasion BSOD. GPU 2 has never had these issues.
EDIT: I should also note, that BSOD on one occasion was occurring extremely slow and yesterday, instead of a BSOD, the screen glitched and while the wallpaper was showing, blue pixelated squares appeared in a consistent pattern across the screen.
