GTX 780 EVGA Classified / GTX 780 MSI Lightning

Hey all, So i'm in the mode of buying a new graphics card. Currently there are some nice promo codes going on newegg for evga cards. I've come down too getting either the 780 Classified or the MSI Lightning.

I have done some research and I have read that the lightning has Elpida memory now, which is a drawback as I will be OC'ing this select card. But I did read that there are custom bios that can counter that.

But I also heard now the classified gets amazing OC...

Currently the Classified I can get on newegg for 500... the Lightning is also 500... Which Should I lean for? What are your all opinions, and if there is another card I should go for... which should it be? My budget right now is 500ish..

I love EVGA. their customer service is amazing. I sent a Graphics card back for RMA that I clearly voided the warranty on and they sent me a new one back without question in less than 5 days. I cant rant and rave about them enough.

I would personally go with the evga one. To me they are a very trusted company and their cards also oc very well even on stock cooling.

I like MSI, have for more years than I can remember. The lightning runs cooler and quieter than any other comparable card. That said, it's a relatively unfair question. Evga makes excellent gpus, easily matching MSI, and surpassing. Evga's service is untouchable. No other company comes close. You've chosen a top ranked and highly expensive card. You'd be a fool to settle for second best if anything were to happen. It's a no brainer. Evga wins first, last, everytime.

Now would the Classified be the best choice as price/performance?... As per say the standard 780 SC ACX, is also on sale and is cheaper by about 40ish bucks... As I have read.. the classified is better as for the PCB which gives it a bit more OC potential... Am I correct on this? How much better is the Classified vs the SC ACX?

Depends on what you are going to do with the card. If you are really not going to OC much, game very heavy, punish the card, then the standard SC acx will be just fine, and somewhat cheaper. If you are going to OC hard, punish that card till it screams, game so heavy the monitor starts to smoke.... then of course the dual classified is the way to go. It's considerably heavier duty built, but in this case, you are going to pay for that option.

The EVGA one, because they have the step-up program which allows you to upgrade your graphics card by paying the difference.

EVGA also allows you to water block their cards and does not void warranty. If you have to RMA they want to you to put the card back into stock setup and then you send it in and they send you a new one. easy as that.
