GTX 960 Video Won't Work

Hi, I just finished my first build and I booted but nothing showed on my monitor when using DVI-I to VGA adapter, but my monitor is old so I thought that may be the problem. Then I used HDMI to connect to my TV and there was still no signal. Someone please help.
PC Specs:
MOBO-MSI Z97 PC MATE
CPU- Intel Core i3-4160
GPU-EVGA GTX 960 4GB
RAM- G.Skill Ripjaws 8GB(4GBx2)
PSU-Thermaltake 500W ATX12V

When this happened to me I had my cpu fan plugged in but not the 4 pin spot on the motherboard. that's if yours is similar to mine

I am almost positive everything is plugged in, but I did check for that solution and it ended up not allowing the computer to boot. Do you have a standard ATX motherboard?
