so I just saw the pc requirements for AC unity, and altough I know they are ridiculously high I realized that in a year a lot of new games will have requirements like these. I have some extra money and was hoping to upgrade my r9 280. My fx6300 processor does meet these minimum requirements, and I would like to keep it and focus on upgrading my gpu. If I have a fx6300 over locked to 4.3-4.5 ghz, will I see a noticeable difference between my card and a gtx 970? Or will it bottleneck so much that it won't really change?

Solution
It won't really bottleneck but then your 280 is just fine for any upcoming games. Ignore the stupid requirements set by AC Unity and other studios since lots of the times they make catastrophic mistakes when writing the requirements ,and most of the times they get ridiculed and criticized(as is the case with AC Unity). So yeah you would see an improvement with the 970 over the 280 but I wouldn't reccomend it, since you're gonna spend quite a lot of money. The 970 is comparable to the 290-290X approximately. In any case one year from now not many things will change in my opinion but it's useless to make assumptions about the future of technology in general 😉
It'll bottleneck before you notice IMO ,but the 970 will help in-game especially because the AC line is optimized for Nividia. It also says that the 8350 is required which probably means that it will be optimized for more cores like games coming out these days and the 6300 might suffer some frames.
