So I am building a gaming PC, and am thinking about using the gtx 970. now my only problems are that
1: the 3.5 gb/4gb vram issue
2: my friends say it isn't very future proof

so even with the vram issue, is it still worth it? will it get good performance and max settings on my games like arma 3 and rust? and my last question, could it run dual monitors at 1080p at good performance ( i plan to game on 1 and have a map or teamspeak on the other)

thanks,

The GTX 980 Ti is one of the best, if not the best card you can buy in my opinion. As you can probably gather from the again huge price difference and perhaps the naming convention, the GTX 980 Ti is another step up from the GTX 980. You can get a TITAN X which is better than the GTX 980 Ti but in my opinion, it is a little overkill and at that point you may as well wait for new GPU releases. In terms of FPS, I think the GTX 980 Ti is up to about 30% better than the GTX 980 on higher resolutions, but the difference is not as big on 1920x1080 resolutions; maybe around 20% better. Still, either way, if you can afford it, it is clearly the one you should get if you want the best performance. However, I will say that the price per...
I plan to have 2 1080p monitors, but can the rest of my build take the gtx 980 ti?

Asus MAXIMUS VII HERO ATX LGA1150 motherboard
16 gb ram (not sure of brand/model)
i7 4690k
Samsung 840 EVO 120 GB 2.5” ssd
Seagate barracuda 1TB 3.5” 7200RPM internal hard drive
Thermaltake chaser A21 ATX Mid tower case
Samsung SH-223DB/RSBS DVD/CD writer

and i haven't decided on cooling and power supply.

That build will be compatible with the GTX 980 Ti. It is normally the motherboard that determines compatibility with a graphics card. Now just make sure you get a power supply capable of power the card. NVIDIA recommends a PSU with at least 600W on their website. Seasonic and XFX are good brands.

Yes, why not?
Decide on a 650W/850W power supply for one/two 980Ti's. An overclocked 4790K can take on two.
AFAIK, you could use a highend air cooler when you decide to overclock, rather than a watercooling solution. Different people prefer different products.

Alot of misleading info in the thread...

For the Vram issue ive been over 3.5 of vram hitting 4GB without dropping 60fps in a few games..Same was said about the gtx 660 Ti but had no issues

At 1080p if your not going to upgrade resolutions past 1080p soon i recommend the gtx 970. A 980 isnt really worth it and a 980 Ti is a bit to much knowing pascal is right around the corner...

So imo i would get something to hold me over wlist playing comfy at 1080p untill pascal comes out..For dual monitors also the 970 would do great
