gtx 970 vs Radeon HD 7990

I have an opportunity to get the 7790 for $300. Should I get it or the gigabyte g1 gaming gtx 970 for $360. Which will be better for gaming?

I'd wait for the 970 personally, you'll see quite an improvement for $60 more bucks.

The HD 7990 is the best out of the two and it's better by a good margin.

The 7990 is a old dual GPU card that should perform slightly better than the 970, but it's going to be hot and noisy and annoying. The GTX 970 will save a lot of crossfire trouble.

The 7990 is is faster because it is two GPU's (still good in terms of performance today) on one card.

The GTX 970 3.5GB is a good card, but the HD 7990 is superior.

8% performance difference at 1080p, up to 25% at 5760x1080p.
Its up to you if that 8% is worth the heat and noise from the 7990. There is also the case where games do not support Xfire, in which case you have a single 7970.

My advice, save the trouble and get the more efficient 970.

Ah I got confused above he says 7990 in the title and 7790 in the post.

If you're gaming at FHD, the 970 will serve all your needs and be a lot less annoying. If you plan to multi monitor or go 4K, then the 7990 is much better. What's the rest of your system?
