I was clever enough to buy two different waterblocks for this powerful card, and none of them worked. The first one wasn't compatible cause of the extra DVI ports sticking out, while the 2nd being smaller from Aquacomputer which isn't compatible either cause of the capacitors sticking out on the rear of the card. So as you've guessed, it's quite the predicament I'm having here. What can I do about it?

Solution
try to return it, the G1 GTX 980 has a custom PCB and most of the water blocks available are only meant for the reference PCB design. If you somehow do manage to mount it you may not get full coverage and instability due to temperatures is most defiantly and outcome.

EK did say they are making a G1 waterblock for this card however.
