GTX 980 power connector

I was wondering if i should use one or 2 pcie connectors to power my card.

or should i just get a new psu? The card comes with a 6 to 8 pin connector

The card has 2 8 pin connections i was wondering if i should use one of the 6+2 connector and use the same 6 pin with the 6 to 8 pin adapter or use a different pcie wire for that?

Was wondering this cause i took my computer to a shop to get a cpu cooler put on and the guy who installed it said the card should be powered by 2 different wires. Wasnt sure if this is true.
