hi, I have question for you guys.

currently I have gtx 1080 fe. I love this card but there is one problem. the temperature goes 77~80 celcius when I play games like OverWatch. 30~35 celcius idle. I am getting scatched out because of this temperature when I play games. Should I return gtx 1080fe with 1 fan and wait for the 3rd party 1080 aka asus rog strix 1080 with 3 fan or is that temperature normal

Thanks ☺

Sorry if the question was dumb. I just want to hear other people suggestion.

Solution
Definitely you should. The FE costs $100 more, so in the end your third party GPU will be cheaper. Also it will be able to overclock better due to the better cooling so definitely return it and get a better one.
3rd party GTX 1080's are generally going to be cheaper and more efficient than the Founder's Edition.

However, one thing you can do to make your FE card run cooler is set a custom fan curve.

I currently have a FE card, and before setting a custom fan curve I was getting around 80C in game (with only 40% fan speed).
After setting a custom fan curve I am now getting a steady 69C in my most graphically intensive games (1-2 hours of play time).

If you haven't already, I'd recommend using a program like EVGA Precision X to set a custom fan speed, and then see the difference in temps.

You can download it here:

P.S. You have to leave the application open in order for it to work.
P.P.S You could also try MSI Afterburner if you'd prefer.
