GTX260 192 vs 260 OCed

I know that the 216 is better than the 192 version.

However, I've heard that the 192 version OCs better, and can actually surpass the 216?
Is this 192 OC > 216 OC? or 192 OC > 216 stock?

Also, does anyone know why this is true?

It's a fairly linear relationship. If OCclock/stockClock > 216/192 then yes it's more potent. However, since the difference is a little over 12% that means you'll need to OC a 192 by like 12% to see identical performance. You'd only have to OC 10% on the core 216 to exceed a 20% OC on a 192.

My XFX GTX 260 (216) can OC the core to 750 Mhz core 1160 Mhz memory bus 1617 Mhz Shader. Stock is 576 core 1242 shader clock 1000 memory.

^ Aye I have. Unfortunately the sites don't have info on the OCing difference of the192 version vs the 216 version.

And can someone explain why the 192 OCs better than the 216?

I "believe" because it has more sp (216 vs 192) so it generates more heat.

Hmm, I see. If I can get a 192 for $120, and a 216 for $150,
would the 5-10% performance increase be worth the extra $30?
