I think 1.10 did fix it, but I'm not certain.

It's worse than that. She's not wearing her Dwarf, she's wearing her
Raven. It's the Rising Sun ammy that does the fire trick.

My fault.

Siobhan looked everywhere. No Diablos. So I nosed around phrozenkeep and
came up with a couple of notes on some forum to the effect that NM in
1.10 has some kind of oddity not present in Normal, yadda yadda, it
keeps Diablos from spawning. Siobhan is not amused, as this means she'll
have to bull her fragile way through the CS and all those freakin'
harpies smacking her, while the mages curse her merc... Her best spell
is Hydra. They're all FI.

Diablo doesn't hit as hard. Hell, *Lister* doesn't hit as hard.

And here I thought it was only sorcies that whined so bitterly. Mind
you, sorcies do whine till you want to kick them off the Arreat Summit,
and would if they didn't keep Shiver Armour set to 'instant ice cube'.

sure to use the pointy end."

Gold is cheaper than mana, some days. Though today was one of those days
when both cost.

> Thanks for an excellent Spot Report, as always up to your usual

Mmmm, berries. :)

Cypress went through Hell today, and my neck is feeling it. Thank heaven
for wireless laptops and scotch. Guess what Izual dropped? That's
right-- two large charms and a skull. All the good stuff is in Normal.
Oh well, she ended up full-clearing everywhere and had not too bad a
time of it, even in the RoF, till she got to the CS. Strange new
monsters in A4. I can just about see the iron golems in the City of the
Damned, and the fire golems in the River, but what the heck are those
blobby fire things shooting fireballs in the manner of a harpie shooting
stars? They made Azrael whimper, they did, yes and expire, too. Several
times. Cypress went from having lots of gold and fat purples to not in
the space of time it took her to drag Azrael and her PHC as far as
Hadriel. Who was not very encouraging when he saw the state of her
armour.

"Turn back now, Hero, and get a real job."

"Hey, you're supposed to tell me about the Seals."

"Seals, schmeals-- okay, okay. There are five Seals. If one of them
doesn't get you, the next one will. Go home."

Needless to say, she flounced past him and went on to the CS, where, as
I mentioned, Azrael began to cost her seriously in both pots and gelt.
It didn't help that she touched one of the Seals accidently and the arch
boss pack that passes for the Infector of Souls' lot (more of the fiery
blobbies) wiped the floor with him three or four times in less than a
minute. Cypress got a little confused and spammed them with town
portals, not her shiniest hour by a long shot. Which may account for
Azrael's later behaviour.

Eventually they did succeed in clearing the CS and loosing Diablo, who
expended his wrath right on cypress, which was good in a way, she being
fairly sturdy, and that let Azrael stand behind him, along with the
Valk, and poke him unmolested. Half a belt later, she collected his
meagre drop and portalled to Harrogath.

Then it was waste Shenk, free the POWs, clear the whatsit area, and dive
into the Crystalline. Some imp dropped an Ort, and with Qual-Kek's quest
set, that gave her enough TalRalOrt to craft a 50% ED jewel (boosted
Magewrath's damage a bit), as well as a +25% life charm. Then she found
a gold gothic bow, and another Ort, and used up another TalRalOrt in
turning it into Goldstrike. Might have to go rune-farming and treat it
to a crafted jewel.

Its FoH cast actually seems to work, so now I'm wondering if those
'chance to cast X' mods are finally working in SP.

Azrael, though... After dying several time in the CS, Azrael took to
behaving a little bit shy. Okay, a lot shy. Hanging back. Studying his
surroundings in a distinctly Valk-like manner. Meanwhile, cypress is
having to depend almost wholly on her Valk for tanking. At one point,
she's shooting at monsters, the Valk is killing monsters, Azrael is off
behind them, behind a cornice, in a niche, and the reason I know this is
that he levelled partway through the fight. A fight to which he
contributed no more than heavy breathing, yet he has the nerve to
announce how he's feeling stronger.

Nice, but if you're still playing 1.09 AR-SE it's worth going after NM
Natalya to get the +3 skills, 16% dual leech, +50% res all armor,
assuming you can get to 149 strength to wear it, and also assuming
*you* can get her to drop all of the set parts ;-) In 1.09 *she's* a
pushover, especially for a ranged attacker, it's *getting* there
that's the problem.

Yeah, I've managed to kill her twice now, I think, in Normal, haven't
gotten to her in NM in 1.10 yet. Both times her kill count was *much*
higher than mine :-(

Ok, now I'm confused, which version are you running? Again, I haven't
gotten there in 1.10 yet, but my newest AR Bowazon just got to Act 4
in Normal in her last game, and decided *not* to skip it, despite
having gotten lucky and gotten a Champ Diablo solo (talk about pot
depletion! After that fight she was back to using regular healing and
mana potions, having barely enough rejuvs left to fill one row of her
belt. When she went to explore the rest of the area and saw another
river of flame, she hightailed it out of there ;-) ), but she *did*
figure it would be the first area where she'd get experience after the
Crypt, and desperately wants the Hwannis set (stupid Izzy dropped
everything but the Bill *twice*, I forget the reason her game ended
but it was before she'd found the WP so she got a second chance at him
in that round).

>> Ugh, we *hates* Undead Stygian Dolls, yes we do, my precious ;-)

Heh, one of my earliest D2 Spot Reports was about an encounter with 2
or 3 boss packs of them right by the stairs in Durance 1, in Hell I
think. I went from just about ready to level to *no* experience
showing on the bar in *very* short order :-(

Don't remind me, I got convinced by Stephen to start a Sorc on BNut
last night ;-) Nova/something is the current plan, she's only at level
12 so she has some time to decide.

Lol, yeah, I guess it is ;-) One of these days I have to try an Act 2
Merc. Hmm, maybe with the new Sorc.

It works *really* well, most of the time. Lately I've had to run
across a second time once or twice, but usually if he's playing shy
throwing the Valk or a Decoy at him will coax him out.

You know, it's funny, in 1.09 Orts seemed to drop as frequently as
Zods (read: never). Now, more often than not, I'm waiting on the *Tal*
to drop for the recipes.

Well, the graphic does anyway, I'm not sure I've actually seen damage
from it, but it's hard to tell using Strafe ;-)

My Rogues do that all the time, hiding a couple rooms away and coming
up with some excuse about not being able to find their way to the
fight. That actually turned out for the better in my last game with my
Nez Necro, a pack of Extra Strong Felltwins cut down *everyone* else
(several times), if she hadn't been hanging around by the waypoint I
doubt she would have survived.

Thanks again for another lovely Spot Report, they are a true joy to
read. SBPP! 🙂

Yeah, that's a nice ammy for dealing with fire breathers and such.
That boss from the chaos sanctuary seal doesn't give my sorc much
worry, as they heal her more than they hurt her. It just takes her a
while to kill them all as they seem fairly resistant to fire, and her
frozen orb isn't all *that* powerful.
It also makes Durance 3 pretty safe most of the time for her.

I'm most excellently well, thank you for asking! Although as I said
