He didn't steal from specific people, for a specific reason. When you go to war, you don't pick who you kill to make your point, you kill who you must. He believes in a cause, and targeted random people to make his point. Yes it sucks that random people had their lives totally screwed over, but do you think he honestly didn't care? I'm sure he did, but he more so believed in the greater good of his goals, and what it would mean for both the people he effected, and those he didn't, in the long run.
I'd gladly hurt not only strangers, but loved ones, if I knew it was going to prevent a horrible situation, and build a brighter future. Not everything is black and white, but this country, and much of the world, is definitely in rough shape, and it takes drastic ideas / actions to come back from that.

That's terrorism, not warfare, though people can probably debate the difference between war and terrorism ad nauseum. The generally-accepted rules of war usually preclude harming innocent people (or rather, minimized), much less INTENTIONALLY harming innocent people.
If you'd harm innocent people and your own loved ones for the things you believe in, you don't deserve those things in the first place.
