I think that we are underestimating Chuck Norris a little aren't we...

that's stupid! the first thing I do after installing windows is turn off "error reporting" cuz it's annoying not because I'm a hacker of course ;D

Everyone underestimates Chuck Norris
Black Holes are where Chuck Norris divided by zero

[citation][nom]swell9[/nom]Does no one else feel a bit concerned about privacy? Isn't it too much that the Microsoft guys get to know what you were working on?[/citation]
The reason I shut down error reporting in the first place. Microsoft knows what errors are out I might be just paranoid but its just another way for a company to get a glimpse of what people using their OS are doing.

BTW, this issue is not just one that MS deals with. Darn near every user connected to the 'Net is exposed to this behavior on a daily basis (maybe not to the same targeted extent, but exposed nonetheless). If you had a firewall capable of showing you the number of attempted intrusions into your system you would be amazed.

[citation][nom]burnley14[/nom]7000 to 9000 times per second? Holy balls[/citation]You could say THAT again! Jeez!! That's like, sick. Insane. Ridiculous. Guess what H4CK3RZ!! They are still up and running. That's a slap in the face!

Start->Control Panel->System->Advanced->Error Reporting Choose Disable Error Reporting, click Okay.

These are the same people who get letters from their ISP telling them to cease and desist downloading copywritten material.

[citation][nom]NeeKo[/nom]And you do? lol.[/citation]
I really don't, but you must not have one either since you are responding to a no life comment with a no life comment :)

My modded Windows installs come with that already off :) not cause I want to hide anything it just annoys me when that box pops up.

Any vulnerabilities that are discovered by MS (almost always first) are usually analyzed by other OS devs to see if they are also vulnerable.
Having said that, the other OS makers should probably pay MS for forging the way through the vast majority of the muck out there.

[citation][nom]austinseven[/nom]But why? Who would want to attack good ol' Microsoft? Oh wait, maybe all existing Xbox Live members after the recent increase in price... Suckers.[/citation]
Oh I dunno, maybe the millions of people they've screwed over the years with their crap products, closed and proprietary data formats and protocols, and illegal and anti-competitive business practices?

Wrong. Most other OS's are UNIX based, and absolutely none of the same attacks apply. Dude... you know nothing about OS's do you.

What they don't tell you is that this is also how Microsoft hires their security professionals.

Hackers prolly get spam email from Microsoft HR departments asking them to come work for them. If you want to hire the best, you go to the source.

I find this, like others, extremely funny.

[citation][nom]maigo[/nom]The bigger story here is that MS actually looks at the reports[/citation]
SO TRUE!
I can't remember how many times I've clicked "send" thinking that no one is ever going to read what I, with another 1 billion people, send them 2 3 times a day.

[citation][nom]requiemsallure[/nom]people who say that MS isn't secure don't really know what they are talking about... Microsoft is the most secure operating system out there,[/citation]
Hahahahahahahahaaa!!!!!111 -deep breath- AaAaaahahahahahahahahaha!!!! -breath- Bwahahahahaahahaaaa!!! Oh man, that's the funniest thing I've heard all week! You are hilarious!!

the majority of script kiddies are the worst kind of coders, cut and paste coders who have very little idea of what goes on in the background, they develop their codes through tutorials and recommendations on what to tweak from shady forums. The real originator of the codes just sit back and watch evolution in action siphoning of the more successful deviations of their codes into the next masterpiece.

you really couldn't call these villains, more like bumbling henchmen
