Ok so I don't need the latest greatest graphics card in this outrageous market of inflated mining costs. But by my reviews I'm struggling to see the real benefit of a 1660ti over a 1060ti.. is a 1660ti better then a 1070ti? Is a 1080ti really better than a 2060? Is a rx 580 really that much better than a rx570? The most graphically challenging game I play is War Thunder and Royal Revolt and since adding a 34" Westinghouse gaming monitor to the mix my 750ti just ain't filling in all the pixels all of the time. Can I depend on a 1060ti to get the job done? rx580?

Solution
1660ti and 1070 go head to head in 1080p, the 1070 has a slight advantage at 1440p. So figure a 1060-6 is @ 20fps behind that on average and a 1060-3 can be much worse or barely if any worse, depending on the title and its vram needs.

The 1050ti 4Gb can be slightly better, but is generally a little worse off than a 1060-3, a 1050ti 3Gb being worse still.

A 1660ti averages 250% better performance than a 750ti, you'd be looking at 60ish-180ish fps gains at 1080p. With the move of monitors, that's not going to be the same thing, but games requiring low settings on a 750ti will be playing at high-ultra instead.

I thought it was overkill for me but I wanted the USB hub.

The champ will be which ever one you can afford and you can actually get your hands on.

As to 'better' that's entirely a matter of personal opinion based on wants and needs. As you say, your games aren't that demanding (today) and the 750ti was ok for your wants graphically and the needs of the games detail settings and resolution. On your old monitor.

Move to a bigger, better, stronger, faster, higher resolution and the 750ti isn't upto snuff. Thats going to require a bigger card just to get you back to where you were on the new monitor. If that's all you need, then a mid grade card is good enough 1660ti - 2070Super or Rx 570-5700.

So the question really isn't 'which is better' because there's always a 'better' card for a few $$$ more, the real question is 'what's better for you'.

Do you plan on keeping this card for several years, do you plan on never playing anything but those games, what are the chances you'll want to play something more demanding, what are the chances of War Thunder 2 or Royal Revolt Apocolypse being the next thing for you, and it ups the graphics settings considerably.

Not really much point in buying a gpu that's only barely good enough for now unless now is the same thing 3 years or so into the future.

I'm playing the same games now that I was 5 years ago, on my prior gtx970, but with dlcs, mods, updates, new challenges, the graphics are more intense and the deviation between what I had and what I've got now isn't as big as it was a year ago.

Point well taken. Bad time to have this particular problem. What was middle of the road cards are now pulling top dollar....USED! I will weigh my options carefully. So I guess my point is, is a 1660ti really that much better than a 1060ti? 1050ti's are probably more expensive now than they were when they first hit the market but apparently have value. Thanks for the info on the Corn card... It made me nervous. My current set up is a ryzen 2700x, msi 470 gaming mobo, kingston hyper fury 16gb ram, was a 580rx Asrock card (now a Zotac 750ti)

A vanilla 1070 is better than any GTX 16 GPU.
