Hard Drive currepted

Hello,
When i boot my system(Dell Studio 15) it says "operating system not found".I have run the "diagnose" i had result the my Hard drive can not be found.Error code "0141".
Question 1)How can i confirm that my hard drive is corrupted or is dead?
Question 2)Can the data from my Hard drive retrieved.I have important files and folders in the HDD?

I use windows vista.tried with the repair CD.It didnt work.

Can you please help me to retrive data.

get Hirens boot cd

go to HDD tools & use any one of it

repair tool provided by HDD manufactures like seagate & western digital are also available....

use HDD re-generator to repair bad sectors..


use the LIVEXP to recover your files to external drives..

I used that too, but none of that software could detect my hard drive.

have the bios detected hdd, if no then you are out of luck.. for recovery & repair options HDD must be detected by BIOS..

I think Yes,My BIOS is detecting my HDD.I have tried changing from IDE to other one and have tried.

I use SATA .




I am sorry.

Its not getting detected in HDD.I am not sure how to find that.
In the BIOS page it say HDD no drive.

can you plz say how to check this.
Can the data be recovered if its not detected.

Connect the hard drive (if you use laptop, put the hard drive into HDD enclosure) to another healthy computer as secondary HDD, if you can access the corrupted hard drive, you can copy the data out. If you cannot access the corrupted hard drive, try data recovery software to recover lost data. I know easeus data recovery software is good, if you cannot access the crashed hard drive, maybe you can try it to recover lost data from corrupted HDD.
