Hey there, @NickMazzy20!

@USAFRet is right!
This WD Blue of yours is a 3.5" drive so the SATA-to-USB cable won't be enough to power it up. The USB connection alone can supply only enough power for a 2.5" drive, but not a desktop HDD. I'd advise you to consider getting a docking station or an enclosure that is compatible with a 3.5" drive and has an additional AC power supply.

That appears to be a 3.5" drive, right?
If so, it won't power up from a USB port. That drive needs its own power supply.

Yea it is 3.5". If I have a power supply, can I plug the hard drive into the power supply for power and then connect it to my usb?

If I have a power supply can I connect it to that and then my laptop? if not is there a CHEAP way to connect it to a computer externally? I have important stuff on my hard drive, and the mac I pulled it from had a broken graphics card and it needed a ram upgrade really bad. So instead of fixing it I rather just plug it into an external wire or something like that.

Yes. That, or any of the 8 dozen other similar docking stations.
