hard drive imminent faliure

i was helping my friend fix his computer. at start up, there is a message "hard drive imminent faliure", then it syays "press f1 to boot". I installed win2k on it by inserting to the cd, and it worked. now, the computer runs fine, but the message on startup of imminent faliure is still there.

the computer is a compaq (yuk 😛) deskpro 4000
