Hard drive usage 100% due to system task, mostly from pagefile

I have been having this issue ever since I replaced my hitachi drive with a seagate drive (that I got as a gift) on my laptop. I have tried several issues to fix this (and revoked a few due to further reading that I shouldn't apply some of those fixes). I checked resource monitor and it seems almost all of my applications except for my games seem to run mostly off the disk instead of the RAM, further proving this is the fact that under system task is pagefile.sys using up the most disk activity. It slows down my laptop a bunch and I would like to fix it. Any suggestions?

I have 4GB RAM

That makes sense. You might be able to get another year out of it. The fact that it's still usable nearly a decade after you got it is really quite good for a laptop. That said, it is at the end of it's useful life. I recommend that you plan to get a replacement sometime in the next 12-15 months.

Oh I plan on it, but I gotta get money. This laptop was the finest of her class. Entertainment laptop with a Core2Duo P7550 2.26GHz (not what I got now, I broke it, mines a much more inefficient T7250) 4GB DDR2 800MHz and a GT 130M 1GB. Even had a fingerprint reader and a remote and a TV tuner for some models. Even when I get a new one, I will continue to use this one until it eventually reaches complete end of life (can no longer run any new operating systems) and with the way Linux works, the laptop will have to die before it reaches total end of support. Good old HP HDX16-1370US
