I have an HP 2000-363NR, running windows 7. Never had an issue until 2 days ago. Ran system diagnostics and the codes came back as a bad hard drive. When I start the computer, it goes from the windows screen to a repair screen. I have a seagate SATA drive to replace the old drive, but I want to recover the existing data. Ideas..... Thanks,

First, I would remove the current drive, and reinstall Windows on the new drive. If you have a USB enclosure to try to recover the data, that is usually the safest way - second method would be plugging it into the SATA controller (don't get mixed up on which hard drive to boot from), and copy the records over if possible.

Depending upon the hard drive error(s), you may or may not be able to recover the data.
