Question Hard mod a Saphire r9 280 3gb

Hey there,

I am running a dated r9 280 3g (Saphire) and am wondering if I can squeeze a little more juice out of it before upgrading. I also consider it a nice project.

Are there any hard mods or Vbios mods that can be done to this card to push it to the limit?

I actually changed the BIOS years ago on my standard HD 7970's and turned them in Ghz editions. It was pretty cool at the time but it honestly isn't anything different than what you can do yourself using MSI Afterburner as the overclocking tool.

Depending on the exact model there might be a VBIOS that will stock boost the clock speeds but I doubt there would be a hard mod, nor would I suggest one.

Even with a boost to clock speeds, the benefits will be very limited. The uArch and lower VRAM will limit you mostly.
