Harddrive Recovery software that retains last modification date on files

I'm trying to find a hard drive recovery program that does this. The only one I'm aware of is Seagate's, but I'm not up to paying for a recovery program right yet. Recuva lacks this, as does EaseUS, but I haven't really looked into other programs yet (though from what I've seen, information on that feature isn't that easy to come by.) The creation date is mostly irrelevant though, I've found that to be far less accurate (none of the programs I mentioned have that feature either.)

Hey there. Tviej3jeer39k.

So from what I understand, you have the file/s but you need previously saved version/s of it/them? If that's correct, I don't think you'll have any luck with a data recovery program as basically the last saved version of the file overwrites the previous one and this would make it practically impossible for you to recover a previous version. However depending on the program you're using to modify/create those files it might have a backup feature which might prove helpful, so you could get in touch with the software developer's customer support for more info.
If you're still set on data recovery programs, you could try a few more options from thins article: https://www.lifewire.com/free-data-recovery-software-tools-2622893.

Hope that helps.

What is the problem with the hard drive that requires you to run data recovery software? Is the drive failing? Are you looking to recover deleted files? This will be helpful in my ability to giving you an accurate answer.

I don't want previously saved versions of them. I want the files I want recovered with the last modification date retained. The only program I've found so far that does this is Seagate Recovery Suite.

The drive is undamaged and not failing. For all intents and purposes, it's working fine. None of the files are actually deleted. I made two threads on this regarding my issues that nobody replied to: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-3333321/files-folders-showing.html
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-3328992/files-folders-internal-hard-drive-showing-hard-drive.html

I've never gotten any answers from anyone after all this time, and I don't really have any hope of just getting them to show up (unless someone can help me with that.)

If the files are up front, why not just copy them? I think roadkils' unstoppable copier will allow you to maintain meta data and time stamps in the switches and is free.

You may also be able to do it with rsync, too.

Another way to do it is to get a full sector-by-sector copy of the drive using ddrescue or hddsuperclone.

The files are not upfront. They are completely inaccessible through normal means. At this point, they only show through hard drive recovery scans. Unless you mean something else? I looked up that first program, is there much that sets it apart from other HD recovery software? I will look into the others as well. And I would still appreciate any suggestions on what I could do about getting my files back without recovery software (or atleast, why this happened.)

I don't get it. You say that the drive is working fine and the files are not deleted, yet you now say that the files are not upfront and not accessible by normal means. What is the full story with this drive?

I detailed what happened in the two other threads I posted on it, but to sum it up- I transferred my data from old an drive to a new one (which was a warranty replacement on the one I transferred data off.) Things went fine at first, I even ran a successful Seatools DOS scan, but after I tried accessing the drive from another (with Windows installed- nothing was installed on the one I transferred data onto), all of the data I transferred over was gone. The only data showing up was some folders and a few files I transferred over from the drive with Windows installed. The data I transferred over was technically showing up as used space in hard drive properties, but aside from a brief several minutes after I rebooted my computer the first time, I have never been able to access my transferred data through normal means. The only way I have been able to access the data is via a hard drive software recovery scan.

The drive is undamaged. I can transfer and save files onto it. I can use those files and use programs saved onto it. However, all of the data I transferred from one specific drive is not showing up through normal means. I go into the folders where I transferred the data into, and there's nothing there.
